Dr. Vadalia, the founder and President of Generations Geriatric Mental Health, arrived in Manchester in 1994 with a vision – to improve
the quality of life of older adults. He attended medical school at Shree M.P. Shah Medical College at Jamnagar, India. He then completed
a residency in psychiatry at Mt. Sinai Medical School in 1992, completed a psychiatric residency with elective in geriatric psychiatry
at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in 1993, and then completed a Senior Fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry there, as well, in 1994.
He is board certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Prior to moving to Manchester, he practiced
at the Jersey City Medical Center, Brunswick Medical Center, and Hebrew Home for the Aged at Riverdale
In addition to his outpatient
practice, Dr. Vadalia serves as the Medical Director of Geriatric Psychiatry at Elliot Hospital, where he helped to grow and expand
the Geropsychiatric Unit. He serves as a supervisor to geriatric clinicians new to the field, including PA students, APRNs,
and medical students. He served as a key member of a senior advisory committee focused on the needs of older adults at Elliot Health
System that helped create the Elliot Senior Health Center. This was the first ambulatory care center in New Hampshire to have
its focus dedicated to older adults with geriatric medicine and geriatric psychiatry services co-located. This model has
continued for over 10 years with great success. Dr. Vadalia has applied the same level of advocacy to legislation aimed
at improving advanced care directives for people who lack capacity to make decisions.
Dr. Vadalia has been the recipient of many awards
for his commitment and dedication to patients and families, as well as to the community. Such awards include the New Hampshire Hospital
Association Medical Staff Award for Outstanding Service to the Hospital and Community (2010); Elliot Health System Physician of the
Year Award (2012); Elliot Health System William S. Green Award of Excellence (2013), and New Hampshire Top Doctor (2015). Most
recently, he was selected by the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry as the recipient of their 2017 AAGP Jeanne Jackson-Siegal
Clinician of the year Award. This prestigious award recognizes an AAGP member who has demonstrated a profound commitment to
the field of clinical geriatric psychiatry by providing, promoting, and/or ensuring access to quality mental health care for older
adults.
Dr. Vadalia's career has been singularly focused on providing the best care possible to help patients receive an improved quality
of life. He strives to achieve this everyday with every patient.
